Gorgeous cedar strip construction. This boat is 17 1/2' LOA with a 37" beam, a 16" wineglass transom, 12 1/4" freeboard and 1" of rocker. Weight is approx. 60 lbs. with a calculated max load capacity of 850 lbs. This is not a kit boat!!! I am a professional builder registered with the U.S. Coast Guard and built this boat from scratch the old fashioned way - by hand one piece at a time. With the exception of the caned ash seats every single piece of lumber was cut from planks, machined to spec and installed by me. The hull is constructed of grade A or better clear western cedar with walnut inlaid racing stripes. The floor plate is constructed of ash and is also inlaid with walnut. The scuppered inwales are also of ash. The transom, deck and outwales are constructed of figured cherry and are inlaid with walnut. The hull is fiberglassed both inside and out for superior impact resistance. The entire boat is sealed in three coats of marine epoxy resin and finished in five coats of marine varnish. This boat is a paddler's dream. It is extremely fast leaving barely a ripple in the water. The seating is arranged as to allow one person use of either seat without creating an extreme 'lopsided' condition common with many canoes. Must see and drive to truly appreciate. The ultralight weight combined with the max load capacity make this canoe ideal for extended overnight excursions or use as a day boat. I have spared absolutely no expense in time or material in the construction of this canoe. If you are looking for a handcrafted boat of heirloom quality this just may be the one. This boat is located in Tullahoma, TN and can be seen anytime. I am asking $2900 OBO but will consider any reasonable offer.
